What's new in Bell
Bell 1.0 for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch is with Apple for App Store review, and testers have it on TestFlight now, as do Mac users. Bell for Android and Windows is a direct download. Newest first.
Bell 1.0 (build 63) · 6 October 2026
The version going to the App Store.
- You decide what the tutor sends. Before the tutor sends anything to Anthropic, OpenAI, Google or your school's AI service, Bell asks your permission and lists exactly what goes: your question, any files, and a summary of your schoolwork. Tutor settings let you withdraw it at any time. Apple's on-device model needs no permission, because nothing leaves your device.
- Links open where they belong. Bell's in-app pages keep to your school's portal; any other link opens in Safari, and Outlook opens in its own app.
- Class conversations. Report a message or hide messages from a person, at schools on Bell's platform.
- About. Settings now links to the privacy notice and support, with a contact address.
- The Live Activity is back to its earlier design, the one you knew before build 61.
- iPad. The Homework list is always within reach, whether the sidebar is shown or hidden.
- Demo school. Realistic homework from real-sounding teachers, one Physics exam that matches everywhere, and a sign-in to try: search "Bell Demo School".
- On Apple Watch, a test's date shows once.
Build 62 · 5 October 2026
- The Watch app stays open. Since build 55 it could close a second after opening; fixed.
Build 61 · 5 October 2026
- Apple Watch in Bell's own style: your next lesson with its colour, room and teacher, a countdown in words, and your accent colour.
Build 60 · 5 October 2026
- A faster Watch app. Scrolling and opening lessons on the Watch no longer lag.
Build 59 · 5 October 2026
- The tutor's model is plain text beside the microphone, and the suggested questions are glass cards.
- Homework shares its title row with Account; its Options moved to Settings.
Android and Windows 0.2 · 4 October 2026
- Bell for Android and Windows. The same Bell, now on Android 7 or newer and Windows 10 and 11: ASIMS sign-in, Today, Schedule, Homework, Grades and the tutor with your own key, with a demo school to try first. Download it from the Students page.
- Settings to match: the five styles and a custom accent, notifications (school updates, reminders and the daily digest), tutor settings with automatic web search and sources, and on Android the bell countdown and calendar sync.
- On Windows, reminders arrive while Bell is open or minimised.
Build 58 · 4 October 2026
- A calmer tutor box. While you read, the box is one row beside the button that shows the tabs; tap in to type and it grows the row with the model and send.
Build 57 · 4 October 2026
- Tables in tutor answers. Ask the tutor to compare things, such as tenses, countries or elements, and it can answer with a table. Copying the answer pastes the table cleanly into Notes or a spreadsheet.
- A new tutor box. The plus for photos and files sits under the text, with the model's name beside it: tap it to switch models.
- Simpler settings. Chat settings moved to Tutor settings. One Reminders switch now covers deadlines, lessons, exams and practice.
- Homework. Options is a small button above the list, and Account stands alone at the top.
Build 56 · 4 October 2026
- Your own voice choice. Reading aloud uses the voice you picked in Settings, Accessibility, Read & Speak, including Siri voices.
Build 55 · 4 October 2026
- Sync across your devices. Chats, notes, quizzes, flashcards and homework marks can follow you between iPhone, iPad and Mac through your own iCloud. It is off until you turn it on.
- Steadier under the hood. Bell moved to Swift 6, which catches whole kinds of crash before they reach you.
Builds 52 to 54 · 3 October 2026
- Language practice in the tutor. Role-play conversations with gentle corrections, grammar drills, fill in the gaps, a pronunciation check and vocabulary with audio, built from your own homework topics.
- Plan my week. The tutor plans your study week around tests, grade goals and the topics you find hardest.
- Flashcards that remember. Each card comes back when you are about to forget it, with a "cards due" widget and reviews on Apple Watch.
- Who to email. Ask who handles something at school, and the tutor names the person and drafts the email.
- Hints first. Have the tutor guide you with hints and questions before it gives the answer.
- Today. A Now and Next card shows what is due in this lesson and what comes after; the Dynamic Island and Lock Screen countdown were redesigned.
- Homework. The dot beside new homework disappears once you have opened it.
- Siri and Control Center shortcuts, dark and tinted app icons, and undo for a deleted chat.
Builds 50 and 51 · 2 October 2026
- A faster, lighter tutor. Answers reuse what the provider already has, which cuts the cost of a long chat by up to 63 percent.
- History with a swipe. Swipe from anywhere on the chat to open your earlier chats.
Builds 41 to 49 · 29 September to 1 October 2026
- Your homework, in the chat. The tutor can open your homework and your teacher's files when you ask about them.
- Learning visuals. Interactive diagrams such as the Solar System and food webs, animated scenes with a timeline, and short MP4 explainer videos.
- Presentations and files. The tutor makes editable PowerPoint presentations in several styles, with a matching PDF, and revision sheets as PDF, text or spreadsheet files.
- Replies that finish. Switch to another app while the tutor writes, and the answer is there when you come back.
Builds 27 to 40 · 21 to 28 September 2026
- Web answers with sources. The tutor searches the web when a question needs up-to-date facts, and shows where each fact came from.
- Questions back. When a request is unclear, the tutor asks with choices you can tap.
- Clear glass design across Bell, and live status while the tutor works.
